Brooklyn-based experimental project ko.valainen has just released Life, an eight-track concept album mapping the stages of human existence through coded chess sequences rather than conventional emotional labels. Using modular synths, altered guitar and bass sounds, drones, analog wear, and bespoke electronics, the record favors shifting textures, feedback, and unpredictable processes over standard song structures. The result is a stark, immersive journey examining the collision of fragile human experience with rigid machine-driven systems.
