Detroit’s Marcus: the Apex Predator! have released their new EP, Newborn Fossil, the long-awaited follow-up to their 2018’s The Fury of Almost.
The new EP dives headfirst into their signature blend of post-hardcore chaos and melodic depth. Guitarist and vocalist Kevin Watts, and drummer Nick Marko, joined by bassist Sean Bondareff, craft a sound that’s both raw and reflective—aggressive yet tuneful. The trio’s evolution is evident, merging jagged riffs with emotional honesty.
Recorded by Jake Shives and mastered by Dave Feeny at Tempermill Studios, the production packs punch without losing nuance. M:tAP! manages to walk a tightrope between grit and grace, giving listeners something both cerebral and visceral.
