Aarktica has just released a new remix single, Trick of the Light, re-imagined by The Ellipsist. The project, led by Jon DeRosa, has long blended guitars with orchestral textures and experimental layering, shaped in part by his early hearing loss and minimalist studies. Here, the original’s darkwave mood is reshaped into a hazy, downtempo groove.
Pulsing bass, fractured choral fragments, and drifting vocals create a shadowy, urban atmosphere that feels both intimate and uneasy. The lyrics reflect memory’s distortions, where distance alters emotion. Paired with the original version, the release highlights Aarktica’s enduring ability to transform ambience into something deeply personal and haunting. His debut EP “All Night Wishing I Was Here” will be released on May 1st via Mother West Records.
