Marty Van Wells’ latest album, Songs To Share

Marty Van Wells has recently released his new album, Songs To Share, which is an intimate, entirely self-made record shaped by survival and reflection. The artist, who is based in the English countryside, created the album after a severe medical emergency left him unconscious for weeks and temporarily robbed him of his memory.

Recovering at home and largely confined to bed, he rediscovered unfinished songs and decided to complete them alone. Using little more than an old phone microphone, a guitar, and unstable free software, he recorded and mixed the tracks from his bedside table. The result carries a fragile, folksy warmth and a sense of perseverance. Songs To Share stands as a document of recovery, creativity under limitation, and perseverance.
