Stone Deaf set to release new single, Joculator

Stone Deaf, an indie alt-rock band from Swansea, South Wales, are set to release their new single, Joculator, on January 22. Written by vocalist and guitarist Michael D Pole, the track evolved from a loose jam into a live staple, winning crowds through sheer momentum. The band also consists of Ryan Zachariah Martin on keys, Benjamin Lake on drums, and bassist Charlie “Slick” Ridgway.

Lyrically, it nods to the familiar idea of someone clowning themselves for attention. Sonically, it’s striking: sharp guitar jabs collide with restless drums, while the bass sometimes masquerades as a synth before breaking into a vocal-like lead, with vocals that were recorded with a delay effect through the use of a pedal. Keys enrich the texture, and the closing solo erupts with unrestrained force. Recorded across two Welsh studios, it captures raw performances without polish.
